So, apparently it's not enough that I go and create the official Taco Addiction "Tacos, Bitches" logo. No, JustJenn says that I have to contribute. I tried to point out that I am not a tough chick in the LA area, but that didn't stop her - she wanted content from me and pronto. I did want to show that my local taco joints can somehow manage to compete with the West Coast Taco Cartels that are running things. Think of it as something along the lines of the Tupac-Biggie war, but with tortillas and meat. As you can see, today's subject, from the delicious and inexpensive Anna's chain that has several locations here in Boston, is Tacos Al Pastor. As you can see, we've got the whole carnitas thing going on here with some fresh cilantro, onions, and a bit of guacamole. Mmm! At a buck and a quarter each, they're practically giving these bad boys away. I ordered three.
Now, look at that. Compared to what we've seen from the much-beloved Tito's, I've got to say that Anna's product doesn't look like it came from the front of an Old El Paso package. Jenn defends Tito's by stating that they put crack into their meat "or something." I certainly hope that "something" is magical fairy dust that makes the food look more appealing on subsequent visits.
The meat is cooked perfectly and the marinade doesn't overwhelm the porky goodness at all, unlike a lot of places that end up with salty meatproduct that is about as appealing as a can of Alpo with a spoon sticking out of it. You'll also note that they chopped the cilantro up on the spot and the onions are still robust. The guacamole could be a little thicker, but the spices make up for it.
My Galactus-sized head is now going to enjoy a second bite of this superior taco. Ladies, you have to step up and show me something from your neck of the woods that can compete with this piece of taco perfection.

Girls.
He did NOT just bag on Tito's.
It's on.
hmm...that looks "fresh-mex" to me. akin to a piquto mas sort of thing (which i heartily recommend). and if you find you aren't in the mood to wait for tito, try chihuahua on olympic by the crossroads school. not bad at all.
It took you, Kevin, to get me to the site. And now I see it's LA tacos? Awesome! I need some good recommendations in Downtown L.A., so you know I'll be back.
Oh.
BRING. IT. ON.

So if you guys are tryin to win this battle, than be my guest, because TACO CARTEL will have the war. King TACO watch-out.
